Margaret Mary (Centofanti) Violante, formerly of Lewiston, NY, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2018 in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Home in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Archangelo and Philomena (Di Bacco) Centofanti.

Mrs. Violante was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area. She attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. Margaret previously worked at Carborundum Company on Buffalo Avenue. Her full time job however, was raising her six children.

Margaret was active in the Mount Saint Mary's Hospital and the St. Francis Guild where she chaired many social and charity events. During her early years in the Guild, they were responsible for starting the hospital gift shop. For many years Margaret was a volunteer of the United Way. Mrs. Violante was very involved in the mother's clubs at St. Teresa's School and at Bishop Duffy High School. She was a past member of the Parish Council at St. Teresa's Church and upon moving to Lewiston was a parishioner of St. Peter's Church. Margaret was an active member at the Niagara Falls YWCA and a member of the Board of Directors.  Margaret was an avid golfer and for many years was a member of Niagara Falls Country Club and Niagara Frontier Country Club.

Mrs. Violante was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Dr. Mario J. Violante, Sr. She is survived by her four sons, Michael J. (Joan) Violante of Las Vegas, NV, Dr. Mario (Lois) Violante of Youngstown, NY, Hon. Mark (Gail) Violante of Niagara Falls, NY, Marshall Violante of Chicago, IL, and was predeceased by two sons, Martin (Susan of Niagara Falls, NY) Violante and Dr. Matthew (Annette of Bradenton, FL) Violante. Survivors also include her twenty-one grandchildren, Dr. Marc Violante, Kristen (Jeffrey) Baligian, Michael (Shannon) Violante, Mitchell Violante, Dr. Mario (Pamela) Violante III, Dr, Jude (Allison) Violante, Olivia Violante, Dr. Nicholas (Melissa) Violante, Marre Violante, Dr. Timothy (Molly) Violante, Peter Violante, Mark (Maia) Violante, Eva Violante, Mia (Justin) Tedesco, Maria Violante Murgia, Marten Rose Violante, Matthew (Jessica) Violante, Anthony Violante, Joseph (Amanda) Violante, Audriana Violante and Marshall Violante, sixteen great-grandchildren: Sophia, Mario, Isabella, Jude, Luke, Margaret, Nicholas, Scarlet, Varkis, Roman, Inna, Gemma, Lucca, Enzo, Luna and Gioia; her brother, Louis (Ethel) Centofanti of Williamsville, NY and sister, Edith (Rick) Carbarllada of Whispering Pine, NC,  sisters-in-law, Rosemary (late Aldo) Centofanti of New Port Richey, FL and Rose (late Dr. Jerauld) V. Ferritto of Grove City, OH; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by several loving brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday January 27 ^th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, 620 Center Street Lewiston, NY.  EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH.  Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in St. Joseph's Cemetery.  If desired, memorial donations in Margaret's memory may be made to, Heart Love and Soul, 939 Ontario Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14305 or the Campaign for St. Peter, 620 Center Street Lewiston, NY 14092.
