Obituary

Marguerite M. (Martin) Jacob, 89 of Niagara Falls, NY passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones on Friday October 17, 2014. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Bennie and Theresa (Zipp) Martin. On October 23, 1943, she married Thomas A. Jacob at Niagara University Chapel. Mr. Jacob predeceased her on October 21, 1991.

Marguerite attended local schools. She worked for the City of Niagara Falls in the office of Human Resources for 23 years, retiring in 1991. Prior to that, she worked for the Niagara County Board of Elections. During World War II, she worked at the former Bell Aerospace in Niagara Falls as a riveter. Marguerite was a former member of the Niagara Falls Democratic Committee, Democratic State Committee and served as Chairman of the Niagara Falls Women's Democratic Committee for many years. She was a former member of the Steelworkers Union where she served as a steward.

Marguerite was an excellent cook and baker and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In her leisure time, Marguerite enjoyed crocheting afghans which she would donate to charities, including fundraisers for cancer patients and hospice.

Mrs. Jacob is survived by her five children, Donna (Timothy) Earp of Niagara Falls, NY, Nanette (Paul) Lukich of San Antonio, TX, Thomas Jacob, Mona Jacob and Susie Macri all of Niagara Falls, NY, eleven grandchildren, Thomas J. (Gina) Jacob, Sabrina (Michael) Messineo, Michael F. (Jennifer) Macri, Gina (Nicholas) Streck, Timothy (Rochelle) Earp, Todd Earp, Troy Earp, Sumer (Risky) Sanabria, Breanna (Angelo) Didonna, Paul Lukich, Jr., and Paulette Rudolph, six great-grandchildren, Angelina Jacob, Gianna Macri, Michael J. Macri, Rocco Streck, Rory Sanabria and Reyna Sanabria, step-grandchildren, Michael G. (Terri) Jacob, Debra (Thomas) Filosofos, Judy Briand, LuAnn Pulli, Elizabeth and Christine Johnston and Rollin Johnston, one sister Eleanor (late Paul) Marcolini of Niagara Falls, NY, a step-daughter Rosemarie (James) Fadel of Niagara Falls, NY, cousin John Zipp, her special friend, Judy Szarszewski, her beloved dog Shelby, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by her step-son Harry (late Maria) Jacob, step-daughter Lucy Johnston and step-grandson James Fadel.

Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will be held on Tuesday October 21st at 9:00 a.m. with Rev. Robert Stolinski officiating. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery Lewiston, NY. If desired, memorials in Marguerite's memory may be made to Niagara Hospice 4675 Sunset Dr. Lockport, NY 14094 or the Niagara County SPCA 2100 Lockport Rd. Niagara Falls, NY 14304.
