Maria Rosa (Luiero) Melidona, 88, died under the care of Hospice on Thursday October 25, 2012 at Northgate Manor in North Tonawanda, NY. Born in Brooklyn, NY she was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Caterina Luiero.

Maria moved to Italy with her family at the age of five. At the age of 27 she followed her brother to the United States, settled in Niagara Falls, NY and married Erminio Arthur Melidona in October 1953. Mr. Melidona passed away in August 1998. Maria was employed at the former Ramada Inn in Niagara Falls, NY and retired in 1988. She enjoyed cooking Italian dishes, playing cards, Bingo and visiting with her children and grandchildren. Maria was also a volunteer at Prince of Peace parish.

Maria is survived by one son Joseph Melidona of Spring, TX; three daughters Linda Belton of Niagara Falls, NY; Anna Dante of Lewiston, NY and Diane (Alan) Lebold of Wheatfield, NY; six grandchildren Anthony Melidona, Lauren Belton, Kelly (Matt) Doktor, Chris Dante, Samuel Lebold and Joseph Lebold and was predeceased by one grandson Michael Melidona. She is also survived by three great granddaughters Nadia, Sadie and Sophie, two brothers Felice (Linda) Romeo of Youngstown, NY; Luigi Romeo of Genoa, Italy; one sister Carmela Romeo of Torino, Italy and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one brother Peter (late Vincenza) Luiero.

Friends may call on Sunday from 2 – 4 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday October 29th at 10 a.m. in St. Vincent DePaul Parish at St. Leo's Church, 2748 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Robert Stolinski officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombent at the convenience of the family will be in Boynton Beach Mausoleum, Florida. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY.
