Dr. Marie C. Johnson
Marie Claire (Rotella) Johnson, 76, of Youngstown, NY, passed away Friday, February 19, 2016 in Buffalo General Hospital after an extended illness. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Dominic and Josephine (Longo) Rotella. Marie was predeceased by her husband David, a Niagara Falls School Administrator.
Dr. Johnson, a retired Niagara Falls elementary school teacher received her bachelor's degree from Fredonia State University; her master's degree from Buffalo State University; and her PhD from the University of Sarasota. She composed and published two Gospel music CD's and published a children's book whose theme was values education.
Marie enjoyed listening to and composing music, traveling and spending time with her extended family. She is survived by three sisters and two brothers, Dolores (late John) Strenkoski and Virginia (William) Mack of Lewiston, Carol Rotella and Albert Rotella of Youngstown and James (Marietta) Rotella of Grand Island. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, David (Rose) Rotella, William (Patricia) Rotella and Robert Rotella.
