Marie Sue (Rice) Mulvena, 90 of Youngstown, NY passed away on Friday June 25, 2010 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Born in Taylor, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles G. and Mary M. (Shukwit) Rice.
Marie moved to the Niagara Falls, NY area as a child with her family. She attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. On July 20, 1944 Marie married Danny J. Mulvena in Boston, MA. He predeceased her February 19, 2008. Marie worked for a short time at Moore Business Forms in Niagara Falls and later on as an Avon sales representative. In 1980, Marie and her husband Danny relocated to St. Petersburg, FL until moving back to Youngstown, NY in 1999 where she currently resided. Marie was a long time member of St. Bernard's Church in Youngstown, NY. She was also a member of a Mother's Club that fostered children, and was very generous to many charitable organizations. In addition to being a gourmet cook and fabulous baker, Marie was an accomplished seamstress. She made all her own clothing, as well as her children's, and blankets and clothing for her grandchildren. Marie was also a talented oil painter and made personalized Christmas ornaments for her family.
Mrs. Mulvena is survived by her two children, Mary S. (David) Fleck of Youngstown, NY and Danny J. (Abbe) Mulvena of Fort Royal, VA, eight grandchildren, Nina M. (Christopher) Sweet, Tessa L. Fleck, Christine E. Fleck, Lisa A. Fleck, Nigel P. (Debbie) Mulvena, Caleb M. (Laura) Mulvena Cassie M. Mulvena and Fiona J. Mulvena, three great-grandchildren, Brandy, Rhianna and Wyatt S. Mulvena, one sister Catherine (late Joe) Panaro of Buffalo, NY, one brother Robert (late Doris) Rice of California and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by two brothers and one sister, Charles E. (Alice) Rice, June A. (late Anthony) Ferlito and Grantland Rice.
There will be no prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Saturday October 16th at 11:00 a.m. in St. Bernard's Church 218 Hinman Street Youngstown, NY with Msgr.
