Marion (Sydor) Bax, 78, of Lewiston, NY passed away on Thursday January 27, 2011 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born in Welland, Ontario, Canada she was the daughter of the late George and Katie (Dobranski) Sydor.

Marion was raised and educated in Welland, Ontario. She married Massimo "Max" Bax, of Niagara Falls, NY, on July 18, 1955 in Welland, Ontario and following their marriage came to the Niagara Falls area where she lived until the present time. Mr. Bax predeceased her on February 12, 1986. Corky as she was affectionately known to family attended Niagara County Community College in Sanborn and earned an Associate's Degree as a Registered Nurse in 1975. Upon her graduation, Marion began her employment at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston working in various nursing capacities including a staff nurse, assistant head nurse and as the utilization and patient review coordinator until her retirement in 1998. Following her retirement she continued working as a substitute school nurse for the Lewiston-Porter and Niagara Wheatfield School Districts until December 2010.

Marion was an active member of St. Peter's Church in Lewiston where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, a communicant to the homebound, and member of their Altar and Rosary Society. She also served as a volunteer at Artpark in Lewiston. Marion enjoyed cooking, gardening and traveling, but most of all spending time with her grandchildren who were her pride and joy.

Mrs. Bax is survived by four children, Marie (Robert) Graf of Mesa, AZ, Patricia (Dana Townsend) Bax of Hampton Falls, NH; Pamela (Paul) Bax-Waterstrat of Youngstown, NY and Michael (Susan) Bax of the Town of Niagara, NY; eight grandchildren, Mark, Todd and Tyler Graf, Victoria Townsend, Max and Evan Waterstrat, Massimo and Dominic Bax, two sisters, Irene (late Sam) Pisano and Jeanie (Fernand) Bourque both of Welland, Ontario, Canada, two aunts, Mary (late Ray) Carter and Margaret (late Philip) Boychuk both of Welland, Ontario, Canada as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 3 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday February 1st at 10 a.m. in St. Peter's Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY with Rev. Sebastian Pierro officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
