Mark J. Shields, Sr., age 67, passed away unexpectedly March 1, 2025. Born in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late James T. and Mary (Reen) Shields.

A self-driven, highly motivated, and very successful entrepreneur for over the past 30 years, Mark started his first businesses in Buffalo, NY and built MBJ Enterprises, a landscaping and hardscaping business in Huntersville, NC. Best known for his kindness, generosity, and infectious sense of humor, Mark, affectionally known as "Joe" to some, took a true interest in the well-being of others. Mark enjoyed being around those he loved and above all, cherished time with his children, grandchildren, brothers, nieces, and nephews.

Mark is survived by his son, Mark J. Shields Il, his daughter Brittani (Andrew) Morrow, and his granddaughters Arden and Ayla Morrow. He was sadly predeceased by his beloved son, John J. Shields. Mark is also survived by his loving brothers, Brian (Leslie) Shields, James (Margaret) Shields, and Patrick (Heather) Shields along with numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.

Family and friends are invited to visit Castiglia Funeral Home, 873 Abbott Road, Buffalo, NY on Friday, March 7, from 2-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady Of Victory Basilica, 767 Ridge Road, Lackawanna, NY on Saturday, March 8, at 9:00 am. Please assemble at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Bishop Timon High School in honor of John J. Shields.
