Founded the Niagara Power Coalition

Mark S. Zito, 51, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Sunday December 20, 2009 at his residence. He was the son of the late Charlotte (Mari) Zito and the late Frank Zito.

Born in Niagara Falls, NY, Mark was a graduate of LaSalle Senior High School and obtained an Associate Degree from the Broward County Community College in Broward, FL. Mark worked as a laborer for Laborers Local 91 in Niagara Falls, NY and was a former member of the Niagara Falls School Board. He was the former chairman of the Independent Party of Niagara Falls and was the founder of the Niagara Power Coalition, also in Niagara Falls, NY. In his leisure, he enjoyed socializing at OTB and was skilled as an artist in abstract oil painting. The most important aspect of Mark's life was his family and spending time with them.

Mr. Zito is survived by his two sons Mark L.D. Zito and Samuel J. Zito, both of Niagara Falls; his fiancée Susan E. Ross, and children Christina E. Ross of Columbus, OH and Franz E. Ross of Niagara Falls, NY; his five siblings Carolyn (Edward) Carlo of Wheatfield, NY, Frances (Richard) Johnston of Niagara Falls, NY, Frank P (Penny) Zito of Wheatfield, NY, Dennis C. Zito, of Niagara Falls, NY, Nancy (Richard) Gudorf of Rochester, MI, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call Wednesday 3 – 8 p .m. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday December 24th at 9:00 AM at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Duane Klizek officiating. EVERYONE WILL ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Amherst Office, 315 Alberta Dr. Suite 102, Amherst NY 14226.
