Marshall J. Rotella, 99, of Rochester, NY formerly of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Saturday July 4, 2015 at Woodside Manor in Rochester, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Marcello Rotella and Mary (Paonessa) Rotella- Skimin.
Marshall attended local schools and on September 7, 1939 he married Mildred "Millie" (Balluzzo) Rotella at St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls. Mrs. Rotella predeceased him on August 28, 2002. Marshall was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area until moving to Rochester, NY in 2010 to be near his daughter. He was employed at Olin Mathieson Company in Niagara Falls as a chemical engineer until his retirement. Following his retirement he continued to work for the Niagara Falls Board of Education at the former 93rd Street School as a stationary boiler engineer. Marshall was a longtime active and Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #247 in Niagara Falls where he also served as Grand Knight. He was also a former member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church Seniors.
Marshall is survived by his daughter Joyce M. Duffy of Rochester, NY and was predeceased by one daughter Marsha J. Reynolds. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Teri (Kevin) Burns, Lisa (Eric) Reynolds-LeBay, James (Tiffany) Reynolds, Mark Reynolds and Christopher (Nichole) Reynolds; nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, one sister Mary (Joseph) Cristelli of Las Vegas, NV as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by two brothers and four sisters, Sam (late Dina) Rotella, Elsie (late Theodore) Niedzwiecki, Rose (late Thomas) Valentino, Victoria (late Sebastian 'John') LaMantia, Phyllis (late Frank) (late Robert) Gugino-Sweet and Frank (late Jocelyn) Rotella.
Mr. Rotella's family would like to extend heartfelt thank you to the entire staff of Woodside Manor for the compassionate care given to Marshall during his time there.
Visitation will be held on Monday July 13th from 9:30 – 11 a.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where a funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Duane Klizek officiating. Entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. V
