Obituary

Marvin L. Cogan, 78, of Niagara Falls, NY and Punta Gorda, FL passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born in Erie, PA he was the son of the late Michael and Bessie (Spector) Cogan.

Marvin moved to Buffalo, NY as a child with his family. He attended Buffalo schools and graduated from Hutch-Tech High School. In the late 1960's he moved to the Niagara Falls area where he lived until the present time. Marv was employed as a chemist at E. I. DuPont Company in Niagara Falls, NY for twenty two years. Following his retirement, Marvin served as Deputy Election Commissioner and Deputy of Employment Training for Niagara County as well as was an honorary Deputy Sheriff for Niagara County. He also served as supervisor of the Hyde Park Ice Pavilion in the City of Niagara Falls. Marvin was active in the Democratic Committee and in his leisure time, enjoyed playing cards. While residing in Punta Gorda, Marv was a member of the Board of Directors and Treasurer of the Alligator Park Senior Living Community.

Mr. Cogan is survived by his wife of thirty five years Edith "Dee" (Milligan) Cogan, two children Michael Cogan of California and Phyllis (Joey) Hudock of Pennsylvania, five step-children, Rick (Anne) Miller, Janice (Bob) Kendall, Jody (Serge) Richard, Lynn (Ken) Collett and Bill (Vicki) Miller all of Canada, twelve grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, his dear friend Louis Scozzafava. He was also predeceased by one step-daughter Karen Hilliard and one sister Irene Henderson.

In keeping with Marvin's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services. Arrangements by M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY.
