Mary Ann (DeMiglio) Ventry, 85, of Lewiston, NY, passed away unexpectedly on May 29, 2026, at Buffalo General Hospital. Born in Fort Edward, NY, she was the daughter of the late Rocco and Frances (Pingatore) DeMiglio. Mary Ann came to Niagara Falls as a child with her family and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1958.
On February 1, 1969, she married her beloved husband, Stephen M. Ventry, Sr. Together, they owned and operated Dairy Queen in Niagara Falls until passing the business to their son, Michael in 1983. Mary Ann continued her career with the Niagara County Health Department, where she worked with dedication until her retirement in 2004.
A devout Catholic, Mary Ann was a faithful parishioner of St. Leo’s Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister. Deeply proud of her Italian heritage, she was a longtime member of the Madonna del Soccorso Society, the Società Femminile, the Cristoforo Colombo Society Ladies Auxiliary, and the Valore Lodge. She enjoyed playing cards and Bingo, was an excellent baker, and found joy in tending to her garden. Above all, Mary Ann cherished every moment spent with her beloved family.
Mary Ann is survived by two children, Michael (Colleen) Palmeri and Deborah (Dan) Hemmingsen; her cherished grandchildren, Vincent (Jennifer) Palmeri, Jennifer (Matthew) Menard, Michele Palmeri, Christina (Mario Giles) Palmeri, Michael Palmeri Jr., Tyler (Jayme) Diehl, Sr., and Parker Hemmingsen; thirteen great grandchildren; and her sister, Ann (John) Barry. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was sadly predeceased by her husband, Stephen Sr.; her son, Stephen Jr.; and her siblings, Loretta (late Joseph) Downie, Anthony (late Antoinette) DeMiglio, Agatha (late Michael) Lucatra, and Gloria Sarah DeMiglio.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 3, from 4–7 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin on Thursday at 9:15 AM, followed by Mary Ann’s Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Leo’s Church, 2748 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304.
