Mary B. (Stachura) Broda, 93, of Lewiston, NY passed away on November 1, 2016 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital. Born in Krakow, Poland, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Bernice (Wiegen) Stachura.
Mary immigrated to Canada as a child with her family. In 1955 she married John S. Broda and came to the United States where she and her husband owned and operated the John's Club in Niagara Falls for many years. Mr. Broda predeceased her in 1978. Mary also worked as an aide for the Niagara Falls Board of Education. Mary enjoyed cooking and traveling. Above all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her two children, Barbara (Bogdan) Aleksiejuk and John (Mary Ann) Broda both of Lewiston; three grandchildren, John, Jacqueline and Kelly; four great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, three sisters Eleanor (late Joseph) Sajur, Irene (Daniel) Charkowy and Jean (Donald) Smith, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Joseph Stachura and Stan Stachura.
Mary's family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Mt. St. Mary's Hospital Third Floor Cardiac Unit for the compassion and care given to Mary.
Visitation will be held on Saturday November 5th from 9 – 11 a.m. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon at St. Peter's R.C. Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY. Interment at the convenience of the family in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
