Mary E. Richner-DeColón, 75, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026, at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center after a brief illness. Born in Hautzdale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Ellen (Salvage) Richner.
Mary moved with her family to Niagara Falls as a child and later attended Trott Vocational High School. On December 10, 1988, she married the love of her life, Pablo E. Colón Garay, at the Wintergarden in Niagara Falls. Pablo’s service with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers brought them throughout New York and Pennsylvania. They later returned to Niagara Falls, where their roots and community ran deep. Mary was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 381 and the Frontier Fire Hall.
Mary loved playing Bingo, hunting for treasures at thrift stores, and sharing stories with friends old and new. Her greatest joy, however, was her family, especially the love for children and grandchildren.
In addition to her beloved husband Pablo of 38 years, Mary is survived by her three children, Paula Richner, Jason (Elizabeth) Passero, and Eddie (Jennifer) Passero; her beloved grandchildren, Courtney, Elleana, Georgie, Cassie, Eddie Jr., Cynthia, Michael, and Avery; her siblings, Joyce (John) Pollack, Kate (late Bill) Hickey, Marie (late Zeke) Kephart, and Goldie (late Red) Crow. She was predeceased by three siblings, Linda Hawkins, Patricia Fallan and Phillip Richner.
Visitation will be on Saturday, July 25, from 1–4 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will follow at 4 PM. Interment will take place on Wednesday, July 29, at 10 AM in Acacia Park Cemetery, 4215 Tonawanda Creek Road, North Tonawanda, NY. Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
