Mary Ellen (Connor) Lozo, 88 of Boca Raton, Florida, formerly of Youngstown, NY, passed away on December 24, 2017. Born November 21, 1929 in Syracuse, NY, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Edna (Olstrom) Connor.
Mary Ellen was raised and educated in Syracuse. She attended Le Moyne College and was a member of the college's first graduating class in 1951. On November 17, 1951, she married David F. Lozo, and together they moved to the Youngstown area where she resided until moving to Florida in 2009. Mr. Lozo predeceased her on August 5, 1975. Mary Ellen worked as a teacher's aide for the Lewiston-Porter School District and later as an administrative assistant to the nursing department of the former DeVeaux Manor Nursing Home in Niagara Falls. Mary Ellen was an avid reader who also enjoyed taking walks and playing bridge.
Mrs. Lozo is survived by her children, Timothy (Deborah) Lozo, of Marietta, GA, Michele (Ken) Feinswog of Los Angeles, CA, Colleen (Nick) Quarantillo of Boca Raton, FL, Denise (Stephen) Certo of St. Augustine, FL and David (Donna) Lozo of Tampa, FL, her grandchildren, Christopher Lozo, Wendy (Christopher) Sherer, Alison Feinswog, Connor Quarantillo, Meghan Certo, Lauren Certo, David Lozo, Caroline Lozo and was predeceased by a granddaughter, Carolyn Certo. She is also survived by one brother, Martin 'Bud' (Janet) Connor of Syracuse, NY, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Margaret 'Peg' (late Robert) Casey, Patricia 'Patty' (late John) Resch and one brother, Joseph (Rita of Syracuse, NY) Connor.
Visitation will be on Friday from 4– 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday December 30 th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bernard's RC Church 2 nd and Hinman Streets Youngstown, NY. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of WNY 2805 Wehrle Dr. Suite 6 Williamsville, NY 14221.
