Mary L. Martello, 99, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2022 in Elderwood at Grand Island. Born in Niagara Falls, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo "Jim" and Louisa (Scamacca) Ricotta.
Mary attended local schools and was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School. On September 22, 1948 she married her beloved husband, Antone C. Martello at St. Joseph's Church. Mr. Martello predeceased her on February 14, 2016.
Mary worked as a secretary at Fort Niagara during World War II, and later at Nioga Library Systems in Niagara Falls. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph Church, as well as a member of the ISDA Power City Lodge #158 for many years.
Mary was an excellent baker and also enjoyed crocheting and playing cards. Above all, she centered her life around her beloved family who will miss her greatly.
Mary is survived by her children, Vincent (Margaret) Martello and Nan (Ron) Trapini; her grandchildren, Anthony (Alicia Marcolini) Martello, John Martello, Christopher (Nicole) Martello, RJ Trapani, Nikki (Steve Messenger) Trapani and Louie Trapani; three great-grandchildren, Sophia, Vincenzo Martello and Blake Messenger; one sister, Isabel (late Vincent) Caterina; her special friend, Amber Tiedemann, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her siblings, Sarah (late John) Soluri and Grace (late Armand) Caterina.
Mary's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 14 at 11:00 AM in Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph's Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial offerings may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
