Mary L. (Destino) Mastromatteo, 86, passed away on Friday October 11, 2013 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Luigi and Maria (Giuliano) Destino.

Mary attended local schools and graduated from the former Trott Vocational High School. On July 19, 1947 she married Guy "Tom" Mastromatteo at St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls. Mr. Mastromatteo predeceased her on December 4, 1973. Mary was employed as a supervisor of accounts receivable at Moore Business Forms in Niagara Falls, NY and afterwards Carborundum Abrasives in Wheatfield, NY. Mary was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed cooking and baking. She was also an avid sports fan and especially liked the NY Yankees and golfing. Above all, Mary adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with her family.

Mary is survived by one daughter, Carol A. (Lawrence) Placek of Niagara Falls, NY; one son John D. (Nancy) Mastromatteo of the Town of Niagara, NY, four grandchildren, Kristen (Matthew) Davis, Michael (Holly) Placek, Adam (Elizabeth) Mastromatteo and Natalie Mastromatteo; three great- grandchildren, Gabriella and Emmalynn Mastromatteo and Harper Placek; two sisters and one brother, Rose (late Anthony) Figurilli of Niagara Falls, NY; Patsy (Betty) Destino and Sue (late Frank) Salimbene both of Lewiston, NY; two sisters-in-law, Lucy Mastromatteo and Mary (late Ronald) DiBartolomeis both of Niagara Falls, NY and several nieces, nephews, great- nieces, great-nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by five brothers, Alex (late Anne) Destino, Nunzio (Margaret of Lewiston, NY) Destino; James (Carmella of Niagara Falls, NY) Destino, Louis (Maryann of Lewiston, NY) Destino, Joseph (Michelina "Mickey" of California) Destino and two sisters, Katherine (late Sebastian) Grizanti, Antoinette (late Salvatore) Rizzo.

Mary's family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of 2-East at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence for their care and compassion.

Visitation will be on Sunday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the
M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday October 14th at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Stewart Lindsay, O.S.F.S. officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence, 5285 Lewiston Rd. Lewiston, NY or to a charity of one's choice.
