Obituary

Mary Rose (DeCario) McCoy, 94, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Born in Braddock, PA she was the daughter of the late Giacinto and Anna (Scuglia) DeCario.

Mary Rose attended school in Pennsylvania and in the early 1950's she came to Niagara Falls where she lived until the present time. She was employed by Moore Business Forms in Niagara Falls, NY and retired as a supervisor after thirty five years of service. Mary Rose was a longtime member of the I.S.D.A. Power City Lodge 158 and in 1975 began serving as their president which she did for thirty five years. She also served as a National Counselor and was the recipient of the Queen Isabella Award from the National Columbus Day Committee. In her leisure time Mary Rose enjoyed crocheting and also cooking for her family especially during the holidays.

Mary Rose was predeceased by her husband of thirty seven years, Charles S. McCoy in 1976. She is survived by two children Georgianna (Chet) Kowalczyk and Charles (Barbara) McCoy both of Niagara Falls, NY; three grandchildren René McCoy Thompson, Christina McCoy (Terry) Caputo and Teresa (Jeff) Tarapczynski and was predeceased by her beloved granddaughter Jacqueline Marie Kowalczyk. She is also survived by five great grandchildren Carissa Caputo, Alexa Caputo, Ava Caputo, Jeffory Tarapczynski and Maylianna Tarapczynski; her dear nephew George DeCario of Pittsburgh, PA and several other nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by five brothers Dominic (late Catherine) DeCario, George (late Frances) DeCario, Paul DeCario, Michael DeCario and Frank DeCario. Mrs. McCoy's family wish to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Niagara Hospice for their loving care.

Visitation will be on Monday April 6th from 4 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, April 7th at 11 a.m. at St. Raphael Church, 3840 Macklem Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Ivan Skenderovic officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. The Order of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America will conduct a memorial service on Monday at 7 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Interment in Acacia Park Cemetery, North Tonawanda, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Niagara Hospice House, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
