Mary Ecker, 80, of Youngstown, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at her residence. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, on April 27, 1941 she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Anna (La Porta) Mussari.

Mary graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1959 and was active in planning their reunions and forming the "1959 Breakfast Club." She was employed by Outokumpu American Brass for over 18 years in the shipping and receiving department.

In 1963 she married her beloved husband, Darrel C. Ecker at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Niagara Falls. Together the moved to Youngstown in 1977, and spent the winter months in Sebastian, FL since 2008.

Mary was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Peter's RC Church in Lewiston, NY. As a Eucharistic Minister she took great joy in taking communion to the shut ins. She was also a member of St. Sebastian RC Church in Florida.

Mary loved getting people together and was a member of the "Do Nothing Club" and the Ya Ya's. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband of 58 years, Mary is survived by her two daughters, Janelle Mac Dougall of Webster, NY and Elizabeth "Libby" Hanna of Youngstown, NY; five grandchildren, Ashley L. Ecker, Sara Mac Dougall, Evan Mac Dougall, Andrew Hanna and Gretchen Hanna; two sisters-in-law, Diane (Dr. Donald) Wadsworth of Bend, OR and Linda Mussari of the Town of Niagara, NY; one brother-in-law, Duane Ecker of Prineville, OR; one aunt, Anita Mussari of Lockport, NY; her beloved family friend, Cindy Crump as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Mary was predeceased by her brothers, Samuel (Linda) Mussari and Joseph (late Roseann) Mussari; and her brother-in-law, Dale Ecker.

Visitation will be on Sunday, May 1st from 3 – 8 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Mary's Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10:30 AM in St. Peter's RC Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY 14092. Interment will follow in Oakland Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to St. Peter's RC Church or School, the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Hall Ambulance or Niagara Hospice.
