Mary Ann (Polizzi) Nicastro, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Brothers of Mercy Nursing Home. She was born July 16, 1936 in Niagara Falls, NY in the home where she was also raised in, and raised her children in for over 40 years.
She is predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Charles J. Nicastro Sr and Son, Paul G Nicastro, Mother Delia nee Corieri Polizzi and father, Emanuele Polizzi, brother, Gerald (late Evelyn) Polizzi, sister, Sylvia nee Polizzi Casal. Brother in law, Serafin Casal, brother-in-law, Albert Cimmon, Sister in law and Brother in law Joan and Robert Barone.
Surviving are her Son, Charles J (Vicki) Nicastro Jr, daughter, Tina (Michael) Nicastro-Bartoshevich, a Grandson, Alexander E Bartoshevich. All of Niagara Falls and Williamsville area. Also, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins and Godchildren across the US.
Mary worked as a LPN with geriatric psychiatric patients at Memorial Medical Center for many years, she also worked at Niagara Falls schools as an aide and with her children classes and a Hair Dresser at her sister salon, Sylvia's.
She loved spending time with family and friends at her sister's cottage, her friends from Ohio and the holidays. Easter was her favorite, she baked breads for family and friends and would have them blessed at St Joseph Church each year. She had the best easter egg coloring parties. She was an amazing baker of breads, cakes, pies and pasties. She sewed, ceramics and was a member of Cataract Lodge Italian Sons and Daughters of America. She retired from Memorial Medical Center after her husband became ill in 1990. Mary spent her retirement enjoying her son, daughter and grandson and hanging with her favorite fur friend Rokcet. She had many friends at Brothers of Mercy Assisted Living and Nursing Home for the last few years on 3 East floor. To the patients and staff. We thank them for their friendship and care.
She will be missed and is always in our hearts and memories. Rest in Peace Mom, Daddy is waiting for you.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 20 from 11-12:30 P.M. at the M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin at 12:30 P.M. with Pastor Ray Hammond officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully ask, donations in Mary's name to St Jude Children's Fund or National Kidney Foundation.
