Mrs. Mary Pileggi, 87, of Rock Hill, SC, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Pileggi was born on July 5, 1922 in Jamestown, NY, daughter to the late Stephen and Lena Vecchiarelli. She retired from owning and operating her own hair salon which she prided herself on. Her early life and working career was spent in Niagara Falls, NY before moving to the Carolina's at Eden Gardens and Magnolia Manor. She was a loving and devoted, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, was a wonderful cook and was the type of lady that could earn the respect, trust and love from all those that she helped and especially those that helped her.
Survivors include her beloved husband, John Pileggi of Rock Hill, SC; devoted children, John Pileggi and wife Andrea of Weddington, NC, Joanne Pileggi of Rock Hill, SC; grandchildren, John (Patricia)Pileggi, Jr. of Niagara Falls, NY, Paige and Christian Pileggi both of Weddington; great-granddaughter, Marisa Pileggi of Niagara Falls, NY; sister, Josephine (late Rudolph) Winkler of Wayne, NJ; brother, Anthony (Pat)Vecchiarelli of Niagara Falls, NY and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters Angeline (late William) Donovan, Jessie (late Thomas) Morinello, and two brothers John (late Ann) Vecchiarelli and Benny Vecchiarelli. The family would like to especially thank all the wonderful caretakers and nurses at Regency Hospice and Magnolia Manor for the dedicated and heartfelt care that was given to Mrs. Pileggi and also her family during her illness.
Family will receive friends Sunday 3 – 5 and 7 - 9PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON FUNERAL CHAPEL, 468 19th Street, Niagara Falls, NY where funeral services will be begin Monday January 18th at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Cataract Church, 259 4th St., Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Michael H. Burzynski, Ph.D. officiating. Interment to follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to Regency Hospice, 1924 India Hook Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
