Mary A. (Bahen) Riester, was born in Buffalo, NY on April 4, 1922, daughter of the late Daniel (1928) and Mary (O'Connor) (1927) Bahen.  She died peacefully at home on May 27, 2018 while under the care of her loving family and Niagara Hospice.  Mary was educated in Buffalo and Ireland.  She married Wilfred J. Riester on June 24, 1950 in the new St. Joseph's Cathedral in Buffalo and has lived in Niagara Falls since then.  Mr. Riester predeceased her in 2002.

Mary was a 68-year member and daily communicant at Prince of Peace Church, a Eucharistic Minister, and active member of the Legion of Mary.  She was a member and past officer of the Parents Clubs at Prince of Peace, Madonna and Bishop Duffy Schools. She was also active in Girl Scouts, CYO and Cub Scouts.

Mary was a member of the American Legion Post 1451 and a regular Eucharistic Minister at Crestwood Health Care Facility since 1996.  In 2015, she was honored as 'Volunteer of the Year' at Crestwood and still distributing communion at age 96! Mary lovingly shared her devotion to Jesus and to education by teaching 3 ^rd grade at Prince of Peace School for 35 years.

She is survived by her daughters, Alane (Robert) Donahue of Texas and Rena (Bill) D'Angelo of Niagara Falls; seven grandchildren, Jay (Cori) Mattice of Virginia, Timmon (Michelle) Mattice of Wilson, Frank and Vittoria D'Angelo of Niagara Falls, Kevin (Jenny) Donahue of Brooklyn, Ryan Donahue of Portland, OR and Erin Donahue of Brooklyn, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was also predeceased by her son Kevin Riester (1976) and siblings, Margaret Belliotti, Edward, John and Catherine Keating of Buffalo and Agnes Keniry of County Clare, Ireland.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday May 31 ^st at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Parish at Prince of Peace Church 1055 North Military Road Niagara Falls.  Interment will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery at the convenience of the family.  Flowers are graciously declined.  If desired offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.  Arrangements by M.J.
