Mary E. (Bauman) Wegrzyn, 74, of Town of Niagara, NY passed away peacefully on Friday August 29, 2014 at Niagara Hospice House surrounded by her loving family. Born and educated in Bloomsburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Mary (Tedesco) Bauman.
On June 9, 1962 she married Robert J. Wegrzyn, Sr. in Bloomsburg, PA and together they moved to the Niagara Falls area. Mary worked as a medical secretary at Mt. St. Mary Hospital in Lewiston, and other medical offices in the area. She was a member of the Cursillo movement at the former Our Lady of Lebanon Church in Niagara Falls, NY. However, her most important task was the care and well being of her family. When her children were younger, Mary was active as cheerleading coordinator and with the football boosters at Niagara Wheatfield High School. She, along with her husband, was always in attendance of her children's and grandchildren's athletic and school events. Mary and Robert enjoyed traveling in their motor home and her skills as an excellent cook will always be remembered.
In addition to her husband of fifty-two years, Mary is survived by three children Robert J. (Carla) Wegrzyn, Jr. , Mary (Ken) Gonyea both of Wheatfield, NY, Lisa (Mark) Baehre of Clarence, NY; eight grandchildren, Meghan, Ali, Erin, Olivia, Michael, Delaney, Lexi, and Robert; a brother, Daniel (late Dolly) Bauman, and many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by a brother, Raymond (late Madeline) Bauman.
Visitation will be Monday 4 – 8 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY RD. NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday September 2nd at 10:00 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Parish at St. Leo Church, 2748 Military Rd. Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. David Griffin, officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr. Lockport, NY 14094.
