MaryKay Reygers, 49, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY, surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.  Born in Niagara Falls, she was the daughter of Robert "Bob" J. Donoughe and the late Mary L. (Kilmer) Donoughe.

A proud graduate of LaSalle High School, MaryKay pursued her passion for education and music, earning her bachelor's degree in Education with a minor in Music from Buffalo State College. She continued her academic journey at Niagara University, where she earned dual master's degrees in Early Childhood Education and Education Administration.

On August 17, 2002, MaryKay married the love of her life, Michael J. Reygers, at the Niagara University Alumni Chapel.

MaryKay dedicated her career to shaping young minds as a teacher with the Niagara Falls Board of Education at Harry F. Abate Elementary School. She taught Pre-K and 5th grade but her true calling was 3rd grade and she served as an educator from 2001 until 2020. MaryKay had a strong passion for teaching in Niagara Falls as she wanted to help instruct the inner-city youth.

Her passion for music extended beyond the classroom—she taught and directed musical productions, especially those involving her children, and was a proud member of Delta Chi Omega Sorority.

A vibrant spirit, MaryKay found joy in performing in musicals and theatre productions, reading, and more than anything, creating lasting memories with her family.   She valued experiences over monetary possessions, a trait she lovingly instilled in her children.  She was adventurous, compassionate, and deeply empathetic. Her strength and kindness touched everyone she met—truly, to know her was to love her.

In addition to her father and her devoted husband of 24 years, MaryKay is survived by her beloved children, Haleena Reygers and Camden Reygers; her siblings, James A. Donoughe, Ann Marie (Scott) Fowle, and Robert J. (Sharon) Donoughe II; and many cherished aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16 from 3 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY, 14304 where funeral services and remembrances will follow at 7 PM.  In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice at www.niagarahospice.org.
