Mathew J. Chiarenza, Jr., 74, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at N.F. Memorial Medical Center. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Matteo and Yolanda (Sicurella) Chiarenza.
A graduate of Niagara Falls High School in 1959, Mathew served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge on March 4, 1964. He was employed as a lab technician at Olin Mathieson Chemical Corp. in Niagara Falls, NY for twenty seven years and later he worked at Boat n Bus Tours. He was also an Industrial Waste Inspector for the City of Niagara Falls. Mathew enjoyed horses, walking and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. But the greatest joy in Mathew's life was his three granddaughters who he loved spending time with.
Mathew was predeceased by his loving daughter Michelle Chiarenza Baratta and his companion Sheila Dugan Warner. He is survived by three granddaughters Angelina, Amanda and Alexis and his sister Arlene (Joseph) Cologgi of Lewiston, NY, as well as many cousins. He was predeceased by his dear nephew Dino Cologgi.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 12th from 9 – 11 A.M. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY, where funeral services will begin at 11:15 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY. Interment with Military Honors in St. Joseph Cemetery.
