Mattie Floy (Whetstone) Owens, 96, of North Tonawanda, NY passed away Saturday November 27, 2010 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston. Born in Titus, AL she was the daughter of the late Robert J. and Mittie (Peavy) Whetstone. In April of 1933 she married Gilmar D. Owens in Titus, AL. Mr. Owens predeceased her in 1999.

Mrs. Owens was a member of the Union Baptist Church in Flowery Branch, GA and Lilburn Oaks Baptist Church in Lilburn, GA. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed sewing, and reading her Bible. Most importantly, her life centered on her family and caring for them.

Survivors include her four sons Charles G. (Vivian) Owens of Lilburn, GA, Roy D. (Frances) Owens of Niagara Falls, NY, Gary K. (Donna) Owens of Tucson, AZ and George R. (Mary) Owens of Goodyear, AZ; twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Aubrey Whetstone, Jewel Culver, Jerome Whetstone, and Willie Pearl Owen.
