Obituary

Maxine B. (Bolz) Ehrman, 82, of Tonawanda, NY, died on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Schoellkopf Health Care Facility in Niagara Falls, NY. Maxine was born at home near Palmyra, NE, the daughter of the late Max and Grace (Beckard) Bolz.

Maxine attended Buffalo State College where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. On April 17, 1950 she married Edward F. Ehrman in Buffalo, NY. Mr. Ehrman predeceased her in April 1979. Maxine, who had a passion for teaching pre-school age children, established the Pre-School Program at First Trinity Lutheran Church in Tonawanda, NY during the 1960's and presided as their director for about twenty five years. She was also very active in various activities at the church as well as serving on the Board of Directors for the Niagara Lutheran Home. Maxine was a lifelong and loyal member of Sigma Sigma Sigma national sorority and the Red Hat Society. She was a dedicated volunteer usher at the University of Buffalo Center for the Performing Arts and participated in many local adult education courses. Maxine was a master bowler and participated in local leagues until the age of seventy five. She also enjoyed cooking.

Maxine is survived by one daughter Susan E. Ross (late Mark Zito) of Niagara Falls, NY; two grandchildren Christina Ross and Franz Ross. She was predeceased by one son Edward L. Ehrman and one brother Lovell "Bud" (late Ethel) Bolz. She was dear family of Franz, Victoria and Fritzi Ross.

Susan and her family would like to thank the staff of HomeWatch Caregivers, Erie and Niagara Hospice and Schoellkopf Health Center for their kindness and care of Maxine.

There will be no prior visitation. Interment was held at the convenience of the family in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Buffalo, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to First Trinity Lutheran Church, 1570 Niagara Falls Boulevard, Tonawanda, NY 14150 or to Alzheimer's Association of WNY
