Mena Wakefield, 88, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2022 in Elderwood of Grand Island following a brief illness. Born in Niagara Falls, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Genevieve (Cornacchione) Conny. Mena attended local schools and graduated from the former Trott Vocational High School where she studied Nursing.
Mena was employed as a Waitress for over 35 years at the former Georgian House of Pancakes prior to her retirement in 1994. She was very active in several local senior clubs and enjoyed reading, as well as tending to her garden, completing puzzles and day trips throughout the area. She especially enjoyed watching game shows with her daughters.
Mena was a lifelong member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church where she served as an Usher and on the Altar Guild for over 25 years. In addition, she worked many Lenten Fish Fry's that St. Stephen's was highly known for.
Mena is survived by her daughters, Laura Wakefield and Susan Wakefield, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, James Conny and Daniel Conny, and her sister, Antoinette D'Antuono.
Private funeral services and entombment will be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
