Obituary

Merl E. "Bud" Jacklin, 89, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his loving family under the care of Niagara Hospice.  Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Maurice and Viola (Marble) Jacklin.

Merl served in the United States Air Force for six years during the Korean War prior to his Honorable Discharge. On July 16, 1955, he married Barbara A. (Capizzi) Jacklin in Niagara Falls, NY.  Merl was a local businessman, starting Abel's Remodeling in 1968, which later became Abel's Drain Cleaning.  He operated the business until selling it and retiring in 1999.

Merl was a very dedicated and generous family man who was a great supporter of various causes for children with special needs, including Mercy Ships.  He was also fond of writing self-help literature and sharing it with his family, friends, and various organizations.

In addition to his loving wife of 64 years, Merl is survived by his three children, Rebecca Jacklin, Terry (Laurie) Jacklin and Sharon Jacklin; three grandchildren, John (Kelly) Smyth, Jr., Louis (Julie) Jacklin and Allison Jacklin; two great grandchildren, Synjon and Sebastian Smyth; his siblings, Ruth Miller, Viola Morrison, Leo Jacklin, Earl Jacklin, and Christine Trombley, along with many loving nieces and nephews and his special friend, Rich Chown.  He was predeceased by his siblings, Marion Maxim and Ray Jacklin.
