Michael J. Mendola, 77, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Wednesday May 13, 2015 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Gregory and Rose (Cacioppo) Mendola.
Michael attended local schools and served in the United States Navy. He was employed by Frontier Foundry in Niagara Falls, NY. On June 19, 1965 he married Margaret 'Marge' (Cramer) Mendola in Niagara Falls, NY. Mrs. Mendola predeceased him on November 17, 2010. Michael was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also a fan of the NY Yankees and in his leisure time he volunteered as a coach for Pee Wee Baseball in Niagara Falls, NY.
Mr. Mendola is survived by one daughter AnnMarie (Jeff) Cirbus of the Town of Niagara; three grandchildren Anthony Edward, Kalee Megan and Alexia Corinne; one sister Roslyn Mendola of Florida and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three siblings Thomas (late Mildred) Mendola, Annette (late Vincent) Alonzi and Gregory A. (late Maureen) Mendola.
Visitation will be on Saturday, May 23rd from 12 – 1 p.m. at the
M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. with Rev. Stewart Lindsay, O.S.F.S. officiating, concluding with military honors. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
