Miriam 'Mimi' Elizabeth (LaVenture) Stewart, 62, of Niagara Falls, NY joined the Lord on Thursday July 14, 2011 at her residence while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Gerald and Esther (Kinney) LaVenture. She was predeceased by her husband Nelson Charles 'Chuck' Stewart II.

Mimi, as she was affectionately known by her family and friends, was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area and was raised in Colonial Village. She attended Niagara Wheatfield schools and the Orleans/Niagara BOCES Nursing Program.
She was employed for many years at Jenss Department Store in Niagara Falls, NY and Fairchild Manor Nursing Home and Mt. St. Mary's Hospital both in Lewiston, NY. Mimi was a great supporter of veterans associations in memory of her husband. In her leisure time, she enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, camping and attending Artpark's Tuesdays in the Park. Above all, Miriam loved spending time with her family.

Mrs. Stewart is survived by her children James Stewart Baptiste (Stephanie Kindzia) of Niagara Falls, NY; Wendy (Steve) Dominski of Kingsland, GA and Nelson 'Butch' C. (Rose) Stewart III of Amherst, NY; her grandchildren Steven, Christopher, Joshua, James Jr., Nicole, Charles, Amanda, Brianna, Christina, Sal, Zachary, Vance and Owen; her great grandchildren Christian, Keely, Ariana, Jaxson and Natalia, her sisters Patricia Barone and Michele Greene both of Niagara Falls, NY as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and her beloved dog and best friend Elsa. She was predeceased by one sister Sandra Nashwinter.

Visitation will be held on Saturday July 16th from 2 -4 and 7 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY were funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. with Rev. Joseph Denitto officiating.
