Muriel Longo, 85, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2026, at the Lockport Rehabilitation Center. Born in Niagara Falls, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Isabel (Wendt) McAlee.
Raised in Lewiston, Muriel was a proud graduate of Lewiston-Porter High School. On August 26, 1961, she married the love of her life, Anthony J. Longo, with whom she shared a devoted and joyful marriage until his passing in 2018.
Muriel spent many years serving the New York State Unified Court System in Niagara Falls as a senior clerk typist. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling and tap dancing. She was also a dog lover, especially of her beloved akita, Fumi. Above all, Muriel cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and happiness.
Muriel is survived by her daughter, Kimberly (Keith) Wollen; her grandchildren, Christopher (Julianna) Shank, Sara Shank, and Kelsey (Branden Bey) Shank; and her great‑grandchildren, Shaylee Martin and Owen Shank. She is also survived by her sister, Francine McDonald; her brother‑in‑law, Arthur (late Josephine) Briglio; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Deborah McAlee.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 8 from 5–7 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY where funeral services will follow at 7 PM. Private interment will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter, honoring Muriel’s lifelong love of animals. Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
