Obituary
Nan (Yanchulis) Sdao, 98, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Dominic and Elizabeth (Cegles) Yanchulis.
Nan was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area and attended local schools. On May 1, 1943 she married Fred Sdao at St. George's Church in Niagara Falls, NY. In the late 1930's Nan began her employment career at Bell Aircraft. She later worked at Fortuna's Deluxe Restaurant, Fanny Farmer Candies, DiCamillo's Bakery and at Reed's Jewelers until the late 1970's. All were located in Niagara Falls, NY. Throughout her lifetime, she centered her life around her family. She loved being a homemaker and expressed her love to her family and friends through her baked goods.
In addition to her husband of seventy-two years, Nan is survived by four children Jill (Giles) Manias of Buffalo, NY, David (late Pam) Sdao of Deep River, CT, Lynne Sdao of Niagara Falls, NY and Rick (Wanda) Sdao of Houston, TX; six grandchildren Paul (Alexis) Manias, Giles Manias, Alexandra (Richard) Arnold, Nicholas McTurk, Catherine Sdao and Meredith Sdao; six great grandchildren Isabella, Olivia, Dane, Cecelia, Ella and Freddie; one brother Walter (late Elsie) Yanchulis of Cleveland, OH, one brother-in-law Bill (Elaine) Sdao, one sister-in-law Geri (late F. Robert) Sdao and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by five sisters Ann Cothran, Julia (late Clement) Patrick, Sophie (late Jack) Fuchs, Beatrice (late William) Prygon and Ruth Yanchulis.
Visitation will be on Friday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 27th Street and Independence Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Duane R. Klizek officiating. Entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. If desired memorial donations may be made to Sacred Heart Villa, 5269 Lewiston Road, Lewiston, NY 14092 or to Heart and Soul, Inc., 939 Ontario Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14305.
