Nancy L. Hammond, 78, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026, at Northgate Manor in North Tonawanda, NY. Born in North Tonawanda, she was the daughter of the late Robert G. and Alvina (Aderman) Glant.

On July 4, 1982, Nancy married David A. Hammond, and together they made their home in Niagara Falls in the mid‑1980s. Nancy worked as a bus monitor with Laidlaw Bus Company in North Tonawanda, where she was known for her kindness, humor, and steady presence with the children she cared for. On the C.B. radio network, she was affectionately known as “Two Cents,” a nickname that reflected her spirited personality and her love of conversation. She was also a devoted SpongeBob fan and a proud member of HANCI Seniors.

Nancy’s hands were rarely still. She found joy in crocheting hand towels, baby outfits, Afghans, and blankets—each piece made with patience and love. Among her most cherished creations were her granddaughter’s bridal gown and the angel costumes she sewed for the Salvation Army’s Journey to Bethlehem. She delighted in cooking and baking, especially her Christmas cookies and her Easter candy, traditions that brought warmth and sweetness to her family gatherings.

In addition to her husband of 44 years, Nancy is survived by her children, Mark (Angela) Mercer and Robert (Carrie) Mercer, Jr.; her grandchildren, Joshua, Molly, Stacey, Nancy, Alexis, Kacey, and Gavin; and sixteen great‑grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Nancy was predeceased by her daughter, Tammy Mercer; her siblings, William “Billy” Glant, Linda (late Conrad) Amrude, Bonnie (Kenneth Michel, Sr.) Abel, and Connie (Paul) Laskey; and her nephew, Kenneth Michel, Jr.

A Memorial Service will be held at a future date to be announced at The Salvation Army, 7018 Buffalo Avenue Niagara Falls, NY 14304.
