Nellie M.(Orsi) Huryn, 90, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away Saturday August 1, 2009 at the home of her Debra while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Lorenzo and Gina (Del Ghingario) Orsi.

Nellie attended local schools and on November 18, 1944 married Richard A. Huryn at Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Mr. Huryn predeceased her on March 18, 2003. During World War II, Nellie served as an air raid warden. An avid bingo player, Nellie enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, and also was an avid bowler in several leagues during the 1960's at the former Carson's Lane and Central Lanes in Niagara Falls. She enjoyed visiting with her neighbors, but most importantly, her life centered on her family, particularly her grandchildren.

Mrs. Huryn is survived by four children, Richard C. (Susan) Huryn Sr. of Niagara Falls, NY, Robert M. (Janet) Huryn of Issaquah, WA, Kathleen (Dennis) Strope of Centerville, NY and Debra (Anthony) Battaglia, of Niagara Falls, NY; thirteen grandchildren; twenty four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Olga (Carmen) Battista of Niagara Falls, NY and Ann Katynski of Tampa, FL; one brother Ralph "Red" (Nancy) Orsi of Wheatfield, NY; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. She was also predeceased by her grandson Richard C. Huryn, Jr; two sisters, Emma Platts and Carrie Spots, and four brothers, Lawrence Orsi, Aldo Orsi, Paul Orsi, and Joseph Orsi.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3 – 7 p.m. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday August 5th at 10:00 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Parish at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 N. Military Rd. Niagara Falls, NY. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14092.
