Nicholas L. Pullano, 91 of Youngstown, NY, passed away on April 12, 2018 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late, Dominick and Rose (Marino) Pullano.
Nicholas was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area. He attended local schools and graduated from Trott Vocational High School. He served in the Amphibious Division of the United States Navy during World War II, from 1944 until his honorable discharge in 1946, and was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal and Asiatic Pacific Medal. On September 19, 1950, he married, Jane E. (Granto) Pullano at St. Joseph's Church in Niagara Falls. Following his service, Nick began working for Giant Food Market in Niagara Falls. He would later go on to work for E.I. DuPont for 34 years until his retirement as a maintenance supervisor in 1985. Following his retirement Nick enjoyed working as a school bus driver for Ransomville Bus Lines. He was a member of the DuPont Management Club for 25 years, and 3 rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Nick was an avid football fan and enjoyed fishing and spending the winter months in Florida. Above all, Nick cherished spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his beloved wife of 67 years, Mr. Pullano is survived by his daughter, Donna Fontanarosa, and was predeceased by his son, Nicholas "Nicky" (Lorraine) Pullano, Jr. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Miquel Tomkiel, Vincent (Chelsea) Pullano, David (Erika) Fontanarosa and Peter (Emily) Fontanarosa, six great-grandchildren, Ariona and Natalia Tomkiel, Ava, Louis, Juliet and Alice Fontanarosa, his son-in-law, Peter Fontanarosa, brother-in-law, Larry Granto, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by one sister, Mary (late Angelo) Gigliotti and one brother, Louis Pullano.
There will be no prior visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday April 18 th at 12 Noon at Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph's Church 1413 Pine Avenue Niagara Falls, NY, concluding with Military Honors.
