Nick Shyhalla, 90, of Wheatfield, NY, died on Wednesday February 15, 2012 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY. Born in Pittsburgh, PA he was the son of the late Metro and Anastasia Shyhalla.
During World War II, Nick served as a Technical Sergeant in the United States Army Air Force, working as a radio operator and an air crew member. After his honorable discharge in August 1945, he returned to Pittsburgh where he earned an Engineering Degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He was employed as an electrical engineer at Bell Aerospace in Wheatfield, NY and retired in 1984. Nick's favorite pastimes were woodworking, electronics and gardening.
Nick is survived by his wife of over fifty years Andolfa (Intravartolo) Shyhalla, four children Michael Shyhalla of Niagara Falls, NY; Kathleen Shyhalla of West Seneca, NY; Marybeth (William) Bielat of Hartford, CT and Patricia Shyhalla of Amherst, NY and two grandchildren Isabel and Natalie. He was predeceased by his sister.
Visitation will be on Monday from 3 – 7 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday February 21st at 10:00 AM at St. Vincent DePaul at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 North Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
