Nina M. (LeSacchi) Spacone, 77, of Lewiston NY, passed away quietly Tuesday October 25, 2011 surrounded by her family at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. She was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Adeline (Ruffolo) LeSacchi.
Nina was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area and attended local schools. During her career she worked as an accountant for Louie's Restaurant on Old Falls St. in Niagara Falls. In 1969 she began working at the Niagara Falls Board of Education and retired in 1996 as Principle Account Clerk in the Tax Office.
Nina was known for opening her home to delicious Sunday meals and welcoming her family as well as their friends. On September 1, 1952 she married Dominic Spacone, Jr. in Niagara Falls, NY. She celebrated life in her marriage to Dominic and through her children and grandchildren. Mr. Spacone predeceased her on November 18, 2002. After the death of her husband she found renewed life in her great-grandchildren. "Grandma Nina" would do anything for her "babies"; when they were together, they were inseparable. Nina was able to celebrate the recent marriage of her granddaughter Domenica. Most importantly she centered her life on her family, and they all treasured her presence in their lives.
Nina is survived by her sister Patricia (Frank J.) Micale of Stoneham, MA. She is also survived by her four children Donna M. Gilreath of Lewiston, NY, Nicholas P. Spacone of Dunedin, FL, Diane E. Spacone of Youngstown, NY, and David (Paula Dorato) Spacone of Niagara Falls, NY; nine grandchildren Diane (Dan) Tunnicliff, Eric (Carrie) Strickland, Nicholas Spacone (Anna Zornick), Brian Strickland, Domenica (Tony) Kutis, David Spacone, Jr., Michael Spacone, Dominic Spacone, and Amanda Harnett; four great-grandchildren Damon, Ethan Tunnicliff, Anthony Strickland, and Jayden Harnett and many aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was "Mama Spacone" to Tina Gnann.
Family and friends are invited and welcome to gather for a celebration of Nina's life at her residence on Thursday October 27th between the hours of 4 – 8 PM. Family and friends are also invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Friday October 28th at 11:00 AM at St. Peter's Church, 620 Center St. Lewiston, NY with Rev.
