Nino J. Rossi, 87, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully at his residence on September 27, 2024, surrounded by his loving family while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born on October 28, 1936 in Limosano, Campobasso, Italy, he was the son of the late Luigi and Lucia (Fracassi) Rossi.
Nino was educated in Italy. On February 21, 1958, he married Maria C. (Covatta) Rossi in Italy, and the couple came to the United States shortly thereafter. Mrs. Rossi predeceased him on February 21, 2024 after 65 years of marriage. Nino was employed as an Iron Worker and Foreman at Dobbie Foundry in Niagara Falls, NY for 24 years. He also was employed at Royal Steel for 10 years and Salit Specialty Rebar for 5 years, and most recently worked as a Green Thumb and Horticulturalist for Delaware North prior to his retirement.
Nino enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, cooking pasta and sauce, and making homemade wine and sausage. He also enjoyed watching wrestling, The Beverly Hillbillies, and the Three Stooges on television. A jack of all trades, Nino was very skilled in construction work. Above all, Nino was devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Nino is survived by his daughters, Anna (late Larry) Choops and Connie Spears; his grandchildren, Darryl Laster, Jr., Nino Spears, Larissa Spears, Taylor Choops, and Cody (Jenna) Choops; his great granddaughter, Emma Choops; his in-laws, Teresa (Mario) Mancinella and Mary (late Robert) Bagnoli as well several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his brothers, Dante (Maria) Rossi, and Albert (late Lucia) Rossi.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 1 from 4 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304. Nino's Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 12 Noon at Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14301. Everyone please assemble at church. Entombment in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, https://www.alz.org/.
