Nora E. LaMarca, 90, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away unexpectedly on March 25, 2026, at ECMC Hospital. Born on October 22, 1935, in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Vivian (Peters) Saverino, and the beloved wife of 46 years to the late Roy P. LaMarca.
A gifted writer, she worked many years as a marketing and communications specialist with the Carborundum Abrasives Company, earning admiration for her clarity, wit, and professionalism. She continued her passion for language as a self-employed copywriter, even after retiring from Carborundum in 1990.
A proud member of Mensa International, Nora delighted in deep thought and conversation. At home, Nora found happiness in tending her garden, solving crossword puzzles, sharing her lovingly made Christmas cookies, especially at Christmas. She was also found cheering on her beloved Buffalo Bills every Sunday. Nora and her husband shared a joyful life, generously opening their home to friends and family alike. Along with Roy, she was a charter member of the ISDA - Chapter 240. They loved dancing, traveling, and simply enjoying each other’s company. Nora lived a life shaped by determination, creativity, and deep devotion to those she loved.
Nora is survived by her daughter, Debra J. Ferchen; grandchildren, Michael C. (Renee) Calananand Dana M. Calanan; great-grandchildren, Declan and Orla Calanan; sister Bonnie Riggle; beloved in-laws, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Sidney (late Frances) Saverino and Edward Saverino. As per her wishes, no prior service will be held, and cremation has taken place. She will be entombed at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. A celebration of Nora’s impactful life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Alzheimer’s of Western New York (https://www.alz.org/wny) or Niagara Hospice (www.niagarahospice.org).
