Nora Geist Schmeler, 61, of Tonawanda, NY died on Wednesday March 3, 2010 at her residence. Born in Cleveland, OH she was the daughter of the late Edwin L. and Nora C. (Cullen) Geist.

Nora attended school in Ohio and on February 23, 1979 she married Charles L. Schmeler at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Parma, OH. She and her husband moved to the Town of Tonawanda in the late 1980's where she lived until the present time. Mr. Schmeler predeceased her on May 20, 2002. Nora was employed as a payroll clerk at E.I. DuPont Co. in Cleveland, OH. and later at Citibank in Amherst, NY. Nora was one of a kind. She was an avid collector, especially of recipes and cookbooks. There wasn't a cable cooking program that wasn't programmed for her to watch. What seemed to be trivial to most people was not to her. There wasn't a tidbit, piece of trivia or fact that got by Nora. She was her family's resource and go-to-person for anything Latin or mathematical. She mattered to many people and will be deeply missed by everyone her life touched.

Nora is survived by one brother Edwin W. (Patty Tareco) Geist of Niagara Falls, NY; one sister Karen G. (Kermit H.) Bailey of Brook Park, OH and several cousins.

Friends may call on Saturday from 4 – 9 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to St. Joseph Church Outreach, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY or to St. Amelia's Church Outreach, 200 St. Amelia Dr., Tonawanda, NY 14150.
