Norman A. Olsen, Sr., 93, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, May 26, 2017. Born in Bristol, CT on November 21, 1923, he was the son of the late Ole Thor and Mabel Adele (Vickery) Olsen.
Norman was a longtime Niagara Falls resident, where he attended local schools. On March 19, 1943, he enlisted into the United States Army and served in the Company C 4th Ranger Battalion during World War II. He was honorable discharged on December 11, 1945 as one of the last surviving Army Rangers. Norman was employed as a mechanic at the DuPont Chemical Company for many years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Buff Social Club where he enjoyed meeting up with his friends.
Norman is survived by his son, Norman A. Olsen, Jr.; one grandson, Andrew T. Olsen; and his devoted and cherished friend, Karen Murray. Mr. Olsen was predeceased by his siblings, Beatrice A. Olsen, Roberta Thor Olsen and Ernest Thor (Cubbie) Olsen.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 6th from 5 - 7 P.M. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, where funeral services with Military Honors will begin at 6:30 P.M. Interment will take place in Arlington National Cemetery .
