Nunzio Spacone, 101, of Niagara Falls, NY, peacefully passed away at home on October 15, 2022 surrounded by loved ones.  Born in Prezza, L'Aquila, Abruzzo, Italy, on April 18, 1921 he was the son of the late Luigi and Carolina (Forcucci) Spacone.

Nunzio came to the United States on November 25, 1937 sailing on the Vulcania and arriving in New York City. He joined his father and lived with his loving Uncle Ludovico and Aunt Margaret Spacone and worked in their grocery store on Ashland Ave., Niagara Falls.   He proudly served in the United States Army from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946, serving in New Guinea, the Philippines and was part of the invasion force of Japan.  On August 18, 1951, he married Carolyn F. (DiCenzo) Spacone at Mt. Carmel Church.  Nunzio was employed as a Service Manager with DiCenzo and Company Appliances, and later worked as the Materials Salvage Manager for Carborundum Corporation until his retirement in 1983.  He was a longtime member of Prince of Peace Church, where he served as an usher and was a member of the usher's club.  Nunzio loved to tend to his garden, golf, and bowl in various local leagues.  He was a handyman extraordinaire, and was able to fix anything.

In addition to his loving wife of 71 years, Nunzio is survived by his children, Celia (David M. Pratt, PhD.) Spacone, PhD. and David L. (Mary) Spacone; his grandchildren, Justin S. Pratt, Andrea S. (Ryan Kanick) Pratt, PhD, Miranda Spacone, Christopher Spacone, and Alex Spacone; his nephew, Lello (Stella) Navarolli, as well as several cousins.  He was predeceased by his siblings, Antonia (late Dante) Navarroli, and Claudio 'Spike' Spacone and niece, Lucia (Denis) Gianantonio.

Visitation will be held on Monday October 24 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304.  Nunzio's Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday October 25 at 10 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Parish at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 N. Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304.  Entombment with Military Honors in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.  In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/.
