IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Olivia Virginia
(Ennis) Carlino
September 14, 2019
In the early morning hours of Saturday, September 14, 2019, our beloved Mother & Matriarch, Olivia, exchanged her Earthly wings for her Angel wings and was welcomed into the loving arms of our Lord & warmly embraced by those of our dearly departed families up in Heaven.
Our mother was born in Fauquier County, Virginia on April 12, 1928 to George and Bernice (Brent) Ennis. She attended local schools and then college in Richmond, Virginia where she obtained her nursing degree. While working at a hospital in Washington, D.C., she met our father, James V. Carlino Sr., who was in the Army at that time. The two were married in Rockville, Maryland on October 10, 1947, and after he was honorably discharged, moved to Niagara Falls, NY. After taking some time off to start a family, she later resumed her nursing career.
Mom enjoyed baking, embroidering, reading romance novels, puzzles, watching classic movies, playing cards, and bingo. She loved writing poems for her grandchildren and was the best storyteller ever never having to pause to think of what would come next and as each tale ended you'd hear "Tell us another one, Gramma!" Her favorite pastime was playing Nintendo with them & was affectionately bestowed the nickname "Nintendo Granny." We always spent the holidays at her house & looked forward to Christmas when she would make our Grandmother's treasured lasagna.
Our Mom was loved by all leaving a lasting impression on every person, child, or animal whose life she touched. Her warm and selfless nature will eternally flourish within the hearts of our family and those for whom her arms and heart were always open. She leaves a legacy of memories behind with her family and will be missed beyond the stars, the moon, & into infinity. Mom… Our love for you will surround you forever until we can all be together once again.
She is lovingly survived by six children, Olivia "Debbie" (late Richard) Kestenbaum, James V. (late Karen) Carlino Jr., Sharon (late Michael) Carlino-Dinger, twins Donna (Christian) Rimmen & Fonda (Burdette) Hayes, and Christina (John) Hart. Also survived by 22 Grandchildren, 52 Great Grandchildren, 17 Great Great Grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter Jeannette V. Carlino, her grandson Christian A. Rimmen II, her fiancé Arthur J. Mrak, her ex-husband James V. Carlino Sr., her brothers Joe, George, Jesse, Thomas, Neil, Russell and George W. Ennis & Rodney Hill, her sister Louise Dietz and half siblings Lillian, Susie, Grandville, Grover, and Winfred Ennis as well as her furbabies JJ, Kita Bear, Max, & Tasha who she loved dearly.
There will be no prior visitation. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family at Oakwood Cemetery in Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings in her memory may be made to either the Niagara County SPCA or Roswell Park (Pediatric Cancer). Arrangements were made by M. J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel.
