Orlando "Sonny" Denitto, 89, died on Wednesday December 29, 2010 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Bilardo) Denitto.
Sonny was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army as a Corporal from October 12, 1942 until his honorable discharge on February 19, 1946 and was awarded an American Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and a World War II Victory Medal. On January 10, 1942 he married Alice (Alviti) Denitto at St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Sonny was employed as a bricklayer at E. I. DuPont in Niagara Falls, NY. In his leisure time he enjoyed watching John Wayne Movies as well as other old western movies. He also liked listening to the music of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin.
In addition to his wife of sixty nine years, Mr. Denitto is survived by two children Mary T. Denitto of Lewiston, NY and Rev. Joseph A. (Rachel) Denitto of Niagara Falls, NY; granddaughter Deborah Gioannini (Ricky Ross) (late George Gioannini), great granddaughter Tamara Gioannini; grandchildren Joseph (Toni) Denitto, Orlando "Sonny" (Janelle) Denitto, Diana Denitto; great grandchildren Giuliana, Tino, Tyler and Rocco Denito; Justin, Trevor and Collin Denitto and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by eight sisters Madeline Cecere, Lucy Rosati, Ann Pellegrino, Vera Ferraro, Genevieve Lentine, Clara Toth, Rose Mariani and Josephine Paonessa.

Friends may call on Sunday from 3 – 7 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Everyone is invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday January 3rd at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Duane Klizek officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombment with Military Honors in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
