Paolo Rocco Bonanno, 91, of Niagara Falls, NY died on Sunday July 10, 2011 at N.F. Memorial Medical Center. Born in Siderno Marina, Calabria, Italy he was the son of the late Dominic and Maria (Sgambelluri) Bonanno.

Mr. Bonanno was educated in Italy. During World War II he served in the Italian Army. In 1956 he came to the United Stated with his wife and four children and settled in Niagara Falls, NY. Paolo worked for many years at the former International Paper Mill and later at the Carborundum Co. until he retired at the age of 62. Paolo also helped his son, Gino, at Gino's Imported Foods for twenty five years. He was widely known for his gardening skills and huge vegetable garden as well as his wine making skills. But most of all Paolo will be remembered for the love he showed his family.

Mr. Bonanno is survived by his wife Immaculata (Commisso) Bonanno. He was the loving father of Dominic (Carole) Bonanno of East Amherst, NY; Cosimo (Jean) Bonanno of Rochester, NY; Maria (Antonio) Figliomeni and Gino Bonanno both of Niagara Falls, NY; loving grandfather of Paul (Mona) Bonanno, Mark Bonanno, James (Heather) Bonanno, John Bonanno, Margaret (John) Bonanno-Paa, Carlo (Jennifer) Figliomeni, Anna-Maria (Kevin) Ladd, Angela (Nicholas) Ruffolo, Anthony Figliomeni, Maria (Richard) Bonanno-Lehmann and Lisa (Jon) Bonanno-Young; the loving great grandfather of Dominic, Anthony and Julia Rose Bonanno, Isabella Figliomeni, Cole and Gina Lehmann and Matthew Ladd. Paolo was also the dear brother of the late Angela (late Michael) Commisso and Rose (late Chester) Santarosa.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday July 15th at 10 a.m. in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev.
