Obituary

Pasquale 'Pat' Rutigliano, 97, of Long Beach, CA passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at his residence. Born in Barletta, Italy he was the son of the late Joseph and Giovanna Rutigliano.

Pasquale moved to Niagara Falls, NY with his family in 1929. On Febuary 14, 1942, he married Margaret R. (Colucci) Rutigliano at St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Pat worked at the International Paper Mill in Niagara Falls, NY before moving to his current residence in Long Beach, CA in 1949. He later was employed at the Binnell Construction Company in Los Angeles, CA for 25 years, as well as the Mammoet Construction Company in West Covina, CA with his son, Dominic for 10 years until his retirement.

Mr. Rutigliano was a longtime devoted member of St. Lucy's Church in Long Beach, CA where he served as an usher. He also served in the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1934 to 1938 and was a member of the Sons of Italy in Long Beach, CA during the 1970's. Pat was also a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Union for over 40 years. He loved playing Bingo at the Swinging 50's Senior Center, grocery shopping and gardening. He also enjoyed helping his neighbors with grass cutting and rebuilding driveways. Above all, Pasquale cherished spending time with his loving family.

In addition to his wife of 72 years, Mr. Rutigliano is survived by his four children, Dominic J. (Sharon) Rutigliano, Patricia (Arthur) Gil, Diane Rutigliano (John) Thomas and Joseph J. (Belinda) Rutigliano all of California. He is also survived by his five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his sister, Connie (late Sam) Cale of Niagara Falls, NY, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Pasquale was predeceased by three brothers and one sister, Jack (late Josephine) Rutigliano, Lena (late Tony) LaDuca, Frank (Angela of California) Rutigliano and Sam Rutigliano.

Visitation will be held at All Souls Mortuary, 4400 Cherry Avenue Long Beach, CA 90807 (562-424-8601) on Tuesday, May 13th from 4 – 8 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on May 14th at 9:00 A.M in All Souls Mortuary Chapel. Interment in All Souls Cemetery Long Beach, CA.
