Pastor Ronald Marr, 76, of Niagara Falls, NY went to be with the Lord on Wednesday November 25, 2009 at Fairchild Manor in Lewiston, NY. Born in Caledonia, Ontario, Canada he was the son of the late Eldon W. and Clara M. (Pearson) Marr. On July 2, 1957 he married Ruth V. (Peters) Marr in Grand Prairie, Alberta, Canada. Mrs. Marr predeceased him on October 4, 2002.
Educated in Waterdown, Ontario, Pastor Marr was a graduate of Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, Alberta, and planned to serve God on the foreign mission field. Instead, Pastor Marr began his service in ministry as director of Youth for Christ Ministries in Winnipeg and Montreal from 1955 to 1967 and helped many young people find Christ.
From 1970 to 1986 he edited and published The Christian Inquirer newspaper and other publications that had a readership of over 100,000 subscribers. He also founded and directed several activist family and freedom organizations. Pastor Ron, due to his wife's declining health, was forced to discontinue these ministries. During his time of prayer and reflection while caring for his wife, the Lord taught him "a Christianity that really works" and he later wrote a book of that title. He also authored several other books including Spiritual Dynamite; How to Live Healthy & Happy While Your World is Falling Apart; and The Great Escape. He appeared on many radio and television programs nationally, pastored several churches part-time, and was an elder at Niagara Community Church in Niagara Falls, NY.
In 1986 he founded WorldWide Revival Prayer Fellowship and later ChristLife, Inc. It was through these organizations he was able to distribute worldwide thousands of copies of about 80 messages. In his leisure, Pastor Marr enjoyed gardening; especially growing plants and flowers. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with and caring for his family.
Pastor Marr is survived by his two daughters Sherrie C. (Christopher) Robins of Niagara Falls, NY and Bonnie L. (Scott) Wolf of Amherst, NY; six grandchildren Jennifer and Sean Robins, Ryan, Bethany, Jordan, and Ethan Wolf; two sisters Eileen (late Neil) Stewart of Hamilton, ONT, Norma Frizzell of Peterborough, ONT and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by two sisters Marie Wilkinson, Bernice (late Victor) Callaway; and three brothers: Harold Marr, Lorne Marr and David Marr.
There is no prior visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Sunday December 6th at 3:00 p.m. at Niagara Community Church, 10500 Cayuga Dr., Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Dan Mann, officiating.
