Obituary

Patricia VanEgmond, 92, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026, at Schoellkopf Health Center. Born in Niagara Falls, she was the daughter of the late M. Ward and Mildred (Boyle) Connery.

A lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, Patricia graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1951. In 1956, she married the love of her life, Gerald W. VanEgmond, at St. Mary of the Cataract Church. They shared nearly three decades of marriage before Gerald’s passing in 1985.

Patricia devoted many years to the Women, Infants and Children Program of Catholic Charities, where her kindness and steady presence touched countless families. Proud of her strong Irish heritage, she was well known for hosting her annual St. Patrick’s Day party, complete with green beer, pop, cakes, and an array of festive foods. She embraced every holiday with enthusiasm, transforming her home with decorations that reflected her joy for celebration.

An exceptional baker, Patricia was especially known for her pies, lovingly made for family and friends. Her famous chili sauce became a family treasure, mailed across the country so loved ones near and far could enjoy a taste of home. A devout Catholic, she lived by her faith daily.

Above all, Patricia cherished time spent with her family. Her warmth, generosity, and spirited traditions will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Mrs. VanEgmond is survived by her children, Mary Catherine (Richard) Champoux, Patricia (Ronald) Villani, Susan (William) Collins and James (Angela) VanEgmond NFPD; her loving grandchildren, Katie Champoux, Karen Champoux, Kristen (Matthew) Jones, Richard Champoux Jr., Anthony (Lisa) Villani, Nicholas Collins, Julia Collins, James VanEgmond and Brayden VanEgmond; her cherished great-grandchildren, Alexa, Owen, Mackenzie and Vincenzo, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Neil (late Della) Connery, Betty (late Ronald) Moss, James (late Carol) Connery, Margaret (late Joseph) DeMarco, and Kathryn (late Donald) (late Tom) Dutton.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Schoellkopf Health Center and David’s Path of Niagara Hospice, especially DJ and Beth, for the care and compassion given to Patricia.

Visitation will be on Sunday, March 22 from 2 – 6 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304, where funeral services will begin on Monday, March 23 at 9:15 AM, followed by Patricia’s Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Prince of Peace Church, 1055 N.
