Owner of Sullivan's Hot Dog Stand and retired Niagara Falls Teacher
Patrick T. Sullivan, 90, of Lewiston, NY, a devoted father, grandfather and husband, who thought not of himself and believed nothing was more important than family, died Friday, December 18, 2015, after succumbing to effects of exposure to asbestos. He was born in Buffalo, NY on September 21, 1925. Drafted out of high school in 1943 by the Navy, Patrick served in the Pacific Theateras sailor on a PT-Boat. Honorably discharged in 1946, Patrick enrolled at the University of Buffalo graduating in 1950 with a bachelor's degree in Economics. He also earned a Master's Degree in Education from Buffalo State University in 1966.
While attending the University of Buffalo, he started Sullivan's Custard Stand in 1947, which evolved into Sullivan's Charbroil Hot Dog Stand, a famous local restaurant on Buffalo Avenue in Niagara Falls. Patrick sold the restaurant in 1963, after which he was hired as a teacher by the Niagara Falls school system. He taught school for 27 years, retiring in 1991. An avid golfer, he was a member of Niagara Frontier Country Club for over 50 years.
He is proceeded in death by his father, Edmund Sullivan, his mother, Irene McKenna Sullivan, and his brother Edmund "Jim" Sullivan. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Marra Sullivan of Lewiston, NY; his daughter Mary Alice (Thomas) Trbovich of Williamsville, NY and his son Edmund Patrick (Daniella) Sullivan of Los Gatos, CA. He also is survived by four grandchildren and ten nieces and nephews. Patrick will be missed.
There will be no prior visitation. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 23rd at 11 A.M. in St. Peter's Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY, with Rev. Msgr.
