Patsy Signorelli, 86, of Niagara Falls, passed away Friday October 8, 2010 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Born in Mentele, PA he was the son of the late Ignazio and Aquelina (Bastone) Signorelli.
Patsy moved to the Niagara Falls area as a young man. During World War II he served in the United States Army from February 10, 1943 until his honorable discharge on February 20, 1946. On October 21, 1950 he married Phyllis (Artuso) Signorelli at St, Joseph Church in Niagara Falls, NY.
Mr. Signorelli worked in production for over 30 years at Hooker Chemical in Niagara Falls, NY, until retiring. He later worked as a golf starter at Niagara Falls Country Club and Hyde Park Golf Course. Patsy also played baseball semi-professionally in the Industrial League. A well respected coach, he coached the 1961 Babe Ruth Baseball State Champions and also coached little loop football in the Cataract League, both in Niagara Falls. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed following the New York Yankees and the Miami Dolphins, in particular Dan Marino. Patsy, along with his brother John, formed the "Fabulous Forties", an association that hosted celebrities as guest speakers honoring local sports legends from 1940's. He served as an usher at the Saturday 4 PM Mass at St. Joseph Church, and was also a long-time member of Nick's Gourmet Club at the Como Restaurant in Niagara Falls, NY.
In addition to his wife of fifty-nine years, Patsy is survived by his two children Vicky Signorelli and David Signorelli, both of Niagara Falls, and was predeceased by his son Anthony P. Signorelli on September 27, 2008. He is also survived by two grandchildren Gino and Sarah Signorelli; his sister Anna (late Frank) Fiorita of Niagara Falls, NY and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Mary Signorelli, and two brothers Frank J. "Munchy" (Mary of Niagara Falls, NY) Signorelli and John (Josephine of Niagara Falls, NY) Signorelli.
Visitation Tuesday 3 – 9 p.m. at M,J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY RD. NIAGARA FALLS, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday October 13th at 10:00 AM at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Ave. Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Duane Klizek officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombment with military honors in St. Joseph Cemetery.
